AFC Praise FAM For Launching Futsal League

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has praised the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for launching the Malaysia Premier Futsal League (MPFL). AFC Futsal & Beach Football Competitions Unit head, Brian Johnson said FAM deserved praise as it was not easy to start something new. “There will be challenges, but FAM have shown the courage by taking the first step,” he said in a statement issued by FAM on Monday. On Sunday, FAM officially launched the MPFL, which is aimed at taking futsal into the professional era, in line with FAM’s roadmap, or F-30, which was launched last year. It is scheduled to begin in April. Ten men’s team and five women’s sides will compete in the first edition of the MPFL, which will be held on a home-and-away basis. Apart from that, club licensing has also been introduced to ensure a stronger organisational structure in various aspects like sports, infrastructure, staff and administration, rules and finance. -- BERNAMA
