Al Ahli Saudi Beat Shabab Al Ahli on Penalties to Qualify for AFC Champions League Quarter-Final

Doha, September 27 (QNA) - Al Ahli Saudi FC advanced to the 2020 AFC Champions League quarter-finals after defeating the UAE's Shabab Al Ahli Dubai FC 4-3 on penalties after the 120 minutes of their Round of 16 clash ended in a 1-1 draw at Al Janoub Stadium on Saturday. Azizjon Ganiev opened the scoring for Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in the 28th minute but Omar Al Somah leveled the game for Al Ahli Saudi in the 54th minute from the penalty spot. After 120 minutes ended in a draw, Al Ahli Saudi FC defeated Shabab Al Ahli Dubai FC 4-3 in the penalty shootouts. Al Ahli reach the quarter-final for the fifth time in their history and the first since 2017, while Shabab Al Ahli crashed from the Round of 16 for the second time after 2017, which also came at the hands of the same opponent. The draw for the 2020 AFC Champions League quarter-finals will take place on Monday in Doha. (QNA)
