Al Shaqab to Participate in Menton Horse Championship in France

Doha, June 12 (QNA) - Al Shaqab, a member of the Qatar Foundation, will partake in the 2020 Menton Horse Championship in France on July 4 and 5, which is a qualifier for the Arabian Horse World Championship, to be held in Paris. It will be the first European participation of Al Shaqab's department of horse beauty in the major championships of purebred Arabian horses in 2020. This is the first international championship on the level of purebred Arabian horse beauty since the global outbreak of COVID-19, which led to the cessation of various sports activities, but Al Shaqab received confirmation from the organizing committee of the Menton championship that the tournament will be held. Al Shaqab's Breeding and Show Manager HE Sheikh Hamad bin Ali Al-Thani said that Al Shaqab seeks to appear as the champion in the upcoming Menton championship. Commenting on Al Shaqab participation in the championship, His Excellency said finally Al Shaqab will reappear in the major international horse beauty championships after stopping in the previous period due to the COVID-19, adding that equipping Al Shaqab horses for the next major participants were not affected by the virus at all. He added that the horses were shipped to Europe some time ago and Al Shaqab aims to appear as the champion in the upcoming Menton Championship, especially as we already have the quality and the breed that helps us to do so, not in the Menton championship only, but in all major international tournaments that Al Shaqab will participate in. His Excellency said that Al Shaqab will compete in the Menton championship with 15 horses in one-year foals, one-year-old fillies, 3-year-old fillies, and mares categories, adding that the largest exhibitors in the world will participate in the horse show.
