Alizadehpournia Wins Gold In World University Championship

Kuortane, Finland, Oct 6, IRNA – Hadi Alizadehpournia, 74 Kg Greco Roman wrestler of Iranian Students GR Wrestling Team won the gold medal here Friday night. Alizadehpournia who had on Friday morning managed to beat wrestlers from Ukraine, Russia and the United States on Friday morning to reach the final match of the 74 kilogram Greco Roam style faced Hungary’s Lazlo Szabo, whom he defeated 1-0, 1-0 in the 74-kilogram category of the 10th World University Championship. Earlier, Mohsen Hajipour and Baqer Tavakkolian, the Greco Roman wrestlers in 55 and 60 categories of the Iranian Students National Team had left the completion mattress having defeated in their first round matches. Also, Ali Mohammadi the 66 kg category wrestler of our country had left the international match at the quarter final round. Iran's Taleb Ne’matpour, Mohammad-Reza Akbari and Bashir Babajanzadeh will compete in 84-, 96- and 120-kilogram categories of the WUC Greco-Roman championships on October 6, 2012.
