Bahrain achieves Gold in 5th European MMA Championship

Roma, June 23 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved the gold medal in the 77 kg of the youth class in the 5th European Open Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship, organised by the IMMAF-WMMAA in coordination with the Federazione Italiana Grappling Mixed Martial Arts (FIGMMA) at Pellicone Pala Arena in Italy from June 18 to June 23, 2019. Bahrain's top podium finish was accomplished by national fighter Murad Ali who defeated Russian Sumoor Mohammed in the final game which was held on June 22, 2019.
First Gold Medal
On this occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, praised the result accomplished by Bahrain's MMA Youth team fighters who earned a gold medal and four bronze to this point, stating that this outcome is only the start of many gold medals to be won soon.
HH Shaikh Khalid praised the unique engagement from the event organisers with the general ranking of the national teams which has been recently issued by the IMMAF-WMMAA with Bahrain topping the list following the its victory in the 3rd IMMAF-WMMAA Africa Open Championships. First Objective
HH Shaikh Khalid added: "We look forward through this participation to continue achieving honourable results in MMA. Our first objective is to maintain our leading position in the general ranking of the national MMA teams which are participating in the 6th Open MMA Amateur Championship in the Kingdom of Bahrain as part of the 2019 BRAVE Week which will take place on 9-16 November at Khalifa Sports City. The event is considered the biggest MMA event at the Asian level.
It's worth noting that HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa is personally following the 5th European Open Mixed Martial Arts Championship to support and encourage the Bahraini fighters.
