Bahrain Team all set for Iron Man challenge tomorrow

Pretoria, Apr. 4. (BNA) -- Despite the fluctuating weather conditions, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and First Deputy Chairman of the SCYS and President of Bahrain Athletic Association HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa led Bahrain’s triathletes during their training for the Iron Man Championship, which takes place in South Africa tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Training sessions included swimming, cycling and running to improve the team’s capability to compete in their forth international participation, after they previously took part in similar competitions in Germany, the United States and the Philippines. The organising committee has announced the details of the race, explaining that contenders will swim for 3,08 kilometer, cycle for 180 km and then run for 42 km. The team will be led by SCYS Chairman and First Deputy Chairman, accompanied by team members Shaikh Saqr bin Salman Al Khalifa, Abdullah Al Shamlan, Abdulmuhsin Al Gosaiby, Hamad Al Moraisi, Salem Al Dossary, Nawaf Al Dhaen, Michael Calahora, Fabian and Dave Taylor. Bahrain’s female triathletes will participate for the first time in the championship, which will include swimming for 380 meters, cycling for 18 km and a 4,2 kilometer run. HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the team’s forth international participation is a motivation for team members and an opportunity to gain more skills and experience. He also noted to the participating skilled contenders, who will sure increase competitiveness levels of the championship and he stated that Bahrain team members will spare no efforts to achieve the best results and maintain the good reputation gained following the previous experiments. Guaranteeing the constant improvement of Bahrain’s female sports movement, HH Shaikh Nasser said that the team’s participation will have a positive impact on female triathletes performance. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that Bahrain’s triathletes are determined to achieve the best results and prove the kingdom’s capability to compete in international sport arenas. HH Shaikh Khalid also confirmed the team’s readiness for the championship, pointing to the continuous training sessions and schedules followed by the team and started as soon as they reached South Africa. HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid visited the athletic products expo, where they toured the different sections of the exhibition and were briefed about the latest athletic products. W H Q
