BOC secretary-general receives Japanese ambassador

Manama, Sep. 22 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), Mohammed Hassan Al-Nusuf, received here today the Japanese Ambassador to Bahrain, Hideki Ito. Al-Nusuf welcomed the ambassador, and lauded the role he is playing to enhance bilateral relations and bolster joint cooperation in various fields, especially sport, stressing the importance of increasing cooperation with friendly Japan in the sports fields so that Bahrain takes advantage of its experience and expertise. Al-Nusuf was given details by the envoy about Japan’s preparations to host the next Summer Olympics (Tokyo 2020) regarding installations, facilities, infrastructure, stadiums and services. He expressed Bahrain’s pride in participating in the next Olympiad, noting that Japan’s preparations prove its distinguished ability to host the largest sports gathering. Al-Nusuf said that he is looking forward to enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the sports field, in light of the kingdom’s early preparations for the participation of its mission to Tokyo 2020, in line with the directives of the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to provide ideal conditions for Bahraini athletes taking part in the event. He said that Bahrain, which won a gold medal in London 2012 and a bronze one in Rio de Janeiro 2016, is looking forward to attain honourable results at Tokyo 2020. The Japanese ambassador expressed the Japanese Embassy’s readiness to provide all necessary facilities to ensure the success of Bahrain’s participation in Tokyo 2020.
