Course on Qatar Sports Arbitration Foundation's Rules and Procedures Concluded

Doha, July 13 (QNA) - Qatar Olympic Academy, in cooperation with the Qatar Sports Arbitration Foundation (QSAF), organized a four-day course on the rules and procedures of the QSAF which were devoted to law, lawyers and specialists in this field, with the participation of more than 85 participants from various sports sectors concerned in this field. Dr. Abdullah Al Hayyan, a member of the Board of Directors of the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) and director of the Master of Sports Law program organized by the Qatar Olympic Academy in cooperation with the Spanish University of Lleida, participated in delivering the lectures. He addressed many topics, including an introductory profile on the Olympic Movement and its inception, sports law and its sources and its relationship with other laws, and the Sports Arbitration Court and its procedures as well as judicial authorities in continental and international federations. Abdel Wahab Al Hinai, a CAS arbitrator and chairman of Oman Dispute Resolution and Arbitration for Sport Committee, also addressed the course and talked about the sports law and arbitration law, and Law No. 1 of 2016 to regulate sports clubs, as it is the law that provides the general framework for organizing and governing sports clubs. He also spoke about QSAF in terms of its inception, goals, statute and arbitration rules and procedures, while touching on the practical aspects of the arbitration process that concern all parties dealing with the arbitration system in full whether they are arbitrators, parties or their representatives. This course is the first cooperation between the Qatar Olympic Academy and QSAF after the two parties signed cooperation agreement last October with the aim of spreading the legal culture among members of society and developing specialists in this field. Executive Director of the Qatar Olympic Academy Saif Mohamed Al Nuaimi thanked the QSAF and its officials for their fruitful efforts and great cooperation in bringing the agreement into effect by setting up the first joint courses between the two parties in the field of sports law because of its great impact on the sports system, stressing the academy keenness to hold this course again because of its great importance to the sports community and such courses' role in developing the sports system.
