Dentsu Sports Asia Collaborates With OCM As Sponsorship Agency
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) today signed a four-year collaboration with Dentsu Sports Asia (DSA), to enable the global sports marketing agency to exclusively market and acquire sponsors for national sports governing body.
DSA is a subsidiary of Dentsu Inc, which was established in 2010 with the aim of expanding the group's international sports business and offers a one-stop solution to clients.
"It is really a wonderful opportunity for OCM to be in relationship with Dentsu Sports Asia and we look forward to a very fruitful four-year ahead of us and hopefully into the future.
"Obviously we won't be signing this agreement without looking into something more significant than what we had today and possibly a more professional approach to marketing," said Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar.
He also expressed hope that the partnership would be beneficial for OCM leading to the next Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, in 2020, as well as the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia and Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The appointment will see DSA exclusively managing all rights for Japanese, international and local companies sponsorships.
Also present at the signing ceremony was DSA President and chief executive officer Kunihito Morimura, OCM deputy president Mohamad Norza Zakaria and DSA vice president and Head of DSA's Malaysian Office, Stewart Ramalingam.
Meanwhile, Morimura said the collaboration complemented Dentsu's multi-sports business across Asia.
"Our parent company is the exclusive agency for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We are very pleased to be working with OCM. The partnership with OCM will further strengthen DSA's presence in the region," said Morimura.
DSA recently was appointed as co-exclusive sponsorship agency for the 29th SEA Games - Kuala Lumpur 2017.
