Different Fates By Two Malaysian Pairs At BWF World Tour Finals

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- Two national mixed doubles pair faced contrasting fates in the 2018 BWF World Tour Finals in Shanghai, China, Thursday. The 2016 Rio Olympic silver medallist, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying who lost their opening encounter Wednesday, made up for their disappointment by defeating Indonesian young pair, Hafiz Faizal-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja 21-14 and 21-12 in the Group B match held at Tianhe Gymnasium, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) website;www.bwfworldtourfinals.bwfbadminton.com. Another national pair, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai, however, crashed out from the US$1.5 millon (RM6.274 million) tournament after suffering their second straight defeat; losing 16-21 and 12-21 to the world number one pair, Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong of China in the Group A match. -- BERNAMA
