Double Joy For India At Asian Individual Squash Meet

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- India bagged both the men’s and women’s titles in the 20th Asian Individual Squash Championships, which concluded at the Nicol David Arena, National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil here Sunday. World number 15 Joshna Chinappa retained her women’s crown after stunning top seed Annie Au Wing Chi of Hong Kong 11-5, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6 in the final before men’s top seed Saurav Ghosal made it a clean sweep for India by edging fourth seed Leo Au Chun Ming of Hong Kong 11-9, 11-2, 11-8. It was a major relief for Saurav, having finished as runner-up in the previous edition of the biennial tournament in India in 2017. Malaysia’s interest in the tournament ended Saturday when the three players left standing - S. Sivasangari, Low Wee Wern and Ng Eain Yow - crashed out in the semi-finals. -- BERNAMA
