Draw for Round of 16 of HH the Amir Cup Held

Doha, January 06 (QNA) - The draw for the round of 16 of HH the Amir Football Cup was held on Monday and resulted in strong contests between teams seeking to win the Cup. The round of 16 will see the teams divided into two groups. The event is contested every season by QNB Stars League and Second Division teams. The draw placed Al Sailiya with Umm Salal, Al Duhail with Muaither, Al Shahaniya with Al Wakrah, and Al Ahli with Qatar SC. Al Rayyan will take on Mesaimeer, and Al Arabi will play with Al Khor, while Al Gharafa will meet Al Markhiya and Al Sadd will face Al Kharaitiyat. The matches are held in the knockout system in all the stages of the competition in which 16 clubs participate from the preliminary stage. If a game is tied at the end of regulation time, penalty kicks will decide the game. Defending champion Al Duhail will begin their contest by facing Muaither, who play in the second division. Last year, Al Duhail won the championship title, after defeating Al Sadd 4-0 in the final match. (QNA)
