Ducati Test Rider Stoner Clocks Fastest Time On Opening Day Of Pre-Season Testing

SEPANG (Selangor, Malaysia) Jan 31 (Bernama) -- MotoGP legend and Ducati Team test rider, Casey Stoner from Australia clocked the fastest lap time on the opening day of the 2017 MotoGP pre-season winter testing at the Sepang Circuit Monday. The world champion in 2007 and 2011, clocked one minute and 59.680 seconds on his 25th of 32 laps at the session. Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso of Italy was just 0.115s behind him while Movistar Yamaha MotoGP new signing, Maverick Vinales of Spain was third with a time of 2:00.129s. Eight-time world champion Valentino Rossi from Italy settled for eighth place with a time of 2:00.694s while 2016 champion Marc Marquez came in ninth after clocking 2:00.738s. The pre-season testing was held from 10am to 6pm before the sky opened up at the Sepang Circuit for about 30 minutes starting 4pm, forcing the last two hours of the scheduled running time to be cancelled although some riders did sample the wet conditions.
