Equine Veterinary Medical Center Signs MoU with University of Montreal

Doha, April 08 (QNA) - The Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Montreal, Canada, stating to enhance the experiences of teaching veterinary medicine for horses, and work to develop a training program for veterinary students at the center. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Acting Director of Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) Saad Khalid Awan, and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Montreal Dr. Christine Theoret. The Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) comprises an equine referral hospital, veterinary diagnostic laboratory, and clinical research laboratory. EVMC is a member of Qatar Foundation and is located within Qatar Foundations world-class equine facilities at Al Shaqab. Commenting on this cooperation, Dr. Theoret said that the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal is pleased to establish a partnership with EVMC, and extended thanks and gratitude to the Center, for opening its doors and expertise to students and giving them this precious opportunity to develop their veterinary skills within a global level. For his part, Saad Khalid Awan said that carrying out high-quality research and exploring innovative ways in the field of education is an essential and fundamental orientation in EVMC, a path linked to the strategic direction provided by Qatar Foundation. Awan added that the MoU signed by the center is in line with the vision of Qatar Foundation, which depends mainly on the promotion of educational activities, where the agreement forms part of the commitment of EVMC to pursue local and international cooperation to enhance education and transfer of knowledge, in addition to providing research opportunities. EVMC is staffed by board-certified veterinarians and researchers, applying advanced veterinary techniques and procedures in the treatment of equine patients. The research program of the Centre aims to advance veterinary science through collaborations and clinical research projects. (QNA)
