Fatehah Confident of Winning Gold Medals in SEA Games

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- National track cyclist Fatehah Mustapa believes she would not face any serious problems to win a gold medal in the 29th Kuala Lumpur SEA Games held here in August. Fatehah, 27, is expected to compete in three events, keirin, sprint individual and sprint team, together with another National track cyclist Farina Shawati Mohd Adnan. "My focus currently is on the three events but if the 500m Time trial is included in the SEA games programme, I guess I will not face much of a problem against riders from the ASEAN countries compared with riders from Asian countries. "However, I cannot be too confident, and instead concentrate on training to ensure a win. I hope my training partner Farina will also have the same level of confidence," said Fatehah who was disappointed for not making the cut to the World Championships. Fatehah who had competed in the World Championships on four previous occasions, was disappointed for not joining Mohd Azizulhasni Awang and Muhd Shah Firdaus Sahrom who had qualified for the World Championships. "I do not have any other major competitions before the SEA Games, so I need to fully focus on the training programme," she said. -- BERNAMA
