Health insurance deal details revealed

Manama, Feb. 2 (BNA): The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has revealed details on the recently-signed agreement with insurance company T’azur to the national sports federations. The deal provides health insurance facilities for all the sports associations across the kingdom and will be benefited by the national teams’ athletes of different sports. In their meeting with representatives of national sports federations, BOC explained the agreement articles, conditions, terms and packages to be available for the athletes very soon. These details were announced by National Sports Medicine Centre director Dr Khalid Al Shaikh, in the presence of BOC Information Technology director and Human Resources & Services acting director Nawaf Abdulrahman and Sports Associations head Hamad Al Baker. T’azur Health Medical Customer Service Manager Sana Al Darazi and Gulf Electronics Management Systemschief executive director Amar Mahmood were present at the meeting. Abdulrahman asserted the committee’s eagerness to provide best medical treatment environment for national teams athletes to be able to represent their country at regional, continental and international competitions. "The main purpose of this meeting was to explain the benefits, procedures and services provided by the new insurance policy, and to answer any queries of the sports federations related to this matter," said Abdulrahman. Also during the meeting, Mahmood made a presentation on the new insurance policy, of which he said it will cover a huge 90 to 95 percent of private hospitals in Bahrain. "Any national team athlete can benefit from this policy by getting proper treatment at any hospital for just BD5 fee. The athlete will also get immediate approval of his treatment should he need to have additional tests," said Mahmood. He stressed that the company has a call center open around the clock as the athletes, referees and all those covered by the insurance can apply any inquiry or get the approval for tests, operations or other procedures. Representatives of the sports federations thanked Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president, for his directives to ensure the activation of this project. The meeting was attended by members of 13 of the 27 total sports associations, namely football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, tennis, swimming, fencing, weightlifting, martial arts, maritime sports, table tennis, bowling and cycling.
