Iran vice-champion in Kurash World Championship

TEHRAN, Nov. 07 (MNA) – Iranian athletes finished second in the 10th Kurash World Championship held in Khorramabad, Iran.
The 10th round of Kurash World Championship wrapped up on Friday where Iran ranked second by winning three gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan won five gold medals to become the world champion followed by Turkmenistan who came third in the tournament.
The 10th Kurash World Championship had kicked off in Khorramabad, the capital city of Lorestan province in western Iran, on Thursday November 5 and having attracted 152 athletes from 28 countries, came to an end on Friday.
Being one of the oldest martial arts the people had ever practiced, Kurash is an ancient type of upright jacket grappling which originated in the territory of modern Uzbekistan; the latest scientific research reveals that the age of Kurash is at least three and a half thousand years.
