Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari's TREMENDOUS LEAP Bags Loyalty Cup

Doha, March 06 (QNA) - Almost a year after riding to his first victory in Qatar over C&D, Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari's TREMENDOUS LEAP (Shamardal x Chili Dip) was back in the winner's circle on Thursday, winning the LOYALTY CUP (THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 3) Rated 75 - 95) at Al Rayyan Park turf track. In the 2000m run, the Gassim Mohammad Ghazali was ridden by Marco Casamento and a fantastic ride saw the gelding hold a healthy advantage on the home straight before crossing the post two lengths ahead of the competition. Mustafa Manav guided A.Aziz Jassim Al Buainain trained FINDING NERO (Holy Roman Emperor x Set Fire) to the 4yo's second runner up finish in Qatar, even as Faleh Bughanaim helmed Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki's HESSDALEN (Sea The Stars x Moonlight's Box) to a close third. Al Shaqab Racing's MAIUF (TM Fred Texas x Mayada) improved his strike rate in Qatar after racing to his second victory this season. Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle trained colt had finished third on C&D last month before lining up for PUREBRED ARABIANS (4 Year Olds) on turf on Thursday. With Ronan Thomas in the saddle for the miler, the 4yo picked up a comfortable one and a half-length victory with stablemate and half-sister Alghaf third under Qatari rider Faleh Bughanaim. Al Bida Racing's JABALALY (Moohaajim x Bahati) registered his first victory in Qatar on Thursday, with Soufiane Saadi riding the gelding on his second outing at Al Rayyan Park. Zuhair Mohsen Zuhair Maki trained 4yo had opened his term in Qatar with a ninth-place finish in January but did well under Soufiane Saadi to top the THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 4) (85 & below). In the seven-furlong run, Jabalaly won by a length and a half. Injaaz Stud's QATE'E (Holy Roman Emperor x Cyber Star) registered his second victory this season on Thursday. The Gassim Mohammad Ghazali trained 5yo followed up his C&D third place in February with a fine win under a fantastic ride by Marco Casamento in the LOCAL THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (70-90). The horse won the seven-furlong run with a length and a quarter to spare. Umm Qarn's QATAR BOLT (French Fifteen x Yellow And Green) had finished in the top five thrice since moving to Qatar. On Thursday, the Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle saddled horse even entered the winner's circle for the first time at Al Rayyan Park. With Gary Sanchez in the saddle for the THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 4) (4yo & older, 85 & below), the 5yo raced to a fine win with two and a half lengths to spare in the 2800m run. Qatari rider Faleh Bughanaim rode his seventh winner of the season on Thursday in handsome fashion. Bughanaim was astride Al Shaqab Racing's ALBASOS (Al Mamun Monlau x Aicha Du Berlais) in the PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE, and the two raced to a dominant five-length victory in the 2400m run. The Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle trained filly had always finished in the frame since her arrival in Doha and the 4yo continued the run, this time with a win. Jockey Gary Sanchez picked up a straight double when the apprentice rider helmed Mohammed Ali Yousef Al Sheeb's SAOUD (Cape Cross x I'M All Yours) to a fine victory in the LOCAL THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE. The mile-long race saw the colt bounce back from forgettable 16th place finish in January on debut to enter the winner's circle for the first time in his career on his second outing. The 4yo won by a length and three quarters at the post. Abu Fass Stud's AL FAYZ (Lope De Vega x Dawn Air) bounced back from a forgettable finish in January to shed his maiden status in comfortable fashion on Thursday. The Mohammed Riyaz Ibrahim Kasim schooled gelding had apprentice rider Gary Sanchez for company in the THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (Class 6) (Div 2), and they didn't disappoint as he entered the winner's circle for the first time in seven starts, with one and a half lengths to spare. Abdulla bin Hamad bin Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Attiya's GASLIGHT (Aussie Rules x Isis) finished midfield on her first three outings in Qatar, including a seventh-place over C&D on Al Rayyan Park debut in November. On Thursday, in the THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (Class 6) (Div 1), Ronan Thomas was astride the Khalifa bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Attiya trained 4yo and the duo did enough to win by a half a length at the post.
