Leaders congratulated on MMA achievement

Manama, May 5 (BNA): Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Mohammed Al Nusuf has extended his congratulations to the country’s leaders on the results of Bahrain mixed martial arts team at the recently-concluded Second Asian Amateur MMA Championship.
The team took 13 medals in total in the three-day event, staged at the Ambassador Hotel in the Thai capital Bangkok, including 5 gold, 1 silver and 7 bronze.
Al Nusuf congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on this unprecedented achievement.
Al Nusuf expressed pride at this unique result scored by Bahrain's national MMA team at the Asian level, attributing it to the support to this sport by His Majesty King Hamad and the follow up of HM the King Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Supreme Council First Deputy Chairman and BOC President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He also praised the performances of the Bahrain team members throughout the event, thanks to which they won 13 medals.
The nationals put on a superb show and secured their gold medals through Magomed Gadzhiiasulov (Male Light Heavyweight 93 kg), Shamil Gaziev (Male Heavyweight 120.2 kg), Pasha Kharkhachaev (Male Super Heavyweight 136 kg), Mansur Magomedov (Male Flyweight 56.7 kg), Shamil Gimbatov (Male Lightweight 70.3 kg).
Ramazan Gitinov (Male Middleweight 83.9 kg) gave Bahrain the only silver, while Brandon Tang (Malaysia) and Isa Aldoy (Male Strawweight 52.2 kg), Mohamed Almuamari (Male Flyweight 56.7 kg), Magomed Idrisov and Ali Yaqoob (Male Bantamweight 61.2 kg), Yousif Sayyar (Male Lightweight 70.3 kg) and Abbas Khan (Male Welterweight 77.1 kg) all took the bronze.
