Malaysia Open Dubai Cup Campaign With 1-1 Draw Against China

KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysia opened their campaign in Group B of the Dubai Cup Under-23 Championship with a 1-1 draw against China in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Monday. Felcra FC striker N.Thanabalan was the toast of the National team after popping in the equalizer in the final minute of the match after China had taken the lead in the 68th minute through Yao Jun Sheng. Malaysia will take on Saudi Arabia on Tuesday before completing their group fixtures against Jordan on Sunday. Apart from Malaysia, the championship also include UAE, Thailand, Singapore and North Korea who are in Group A. The top two teams from each group move into the semifinals. The tournament will be an important platform for coach Frank Bernhart to gauge the players who are preparing for the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games in August. -- BERNAMA
