Malaysia's Bowler Soufi Rusli In World Cup Tournament Final Wednesday

KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's bowler, Soufi Rusli reached the men's final of the World Cup tournament after beating Ali Forsyth of New Zealand in the semi-finals round early Wednesday morning. In the semi-finals held at the Warilla Bowls and Recreational Club in New South Wales, Australia, Soufi overcame his more experienced opponent Forsyth with 9-2 and 11-6. "During the match I was a little scared but I managed to overcome them and I'm really grateful that it brings results. "Since the beginning of the tournament I was determined to showcase my best performance and to prove that Malaysia too have good lawn bowlers," said Soufi in an interview after the game via Live Streaming by the World Bowls. He is scheduled to meet world number one bowler, Jeremy Henry of Australia in the final round which will take place today at 3pm local time (noon Malaysian time). "As an unseeded, I will try to give the best fight to win the match. I want to create history as the second Malaysian player who won the World Cup," he said. For the record, the last time a Malaysian player won the World Cup in men's singles was in 2008 by Safuan Said. Meanwhile Siti Zalina Ahmad had won the women's singles category in 2015. -- BERNAMA
