Minister of Culture and Sports Commends Development of Qatar SuperStock, Touring Cars Championships

Doha, December 14 (QNA) - HE Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali commended the great development witnessed by the Qatar SuperStock and Touring Cars Championships, which was reflected in the turnout and unprecedented numbers of spectators in the fourth season of the two championships. In remarks on the sidelines of the opening round of the Qatar SuperStock and Touring Cars Championships, His Excellency expressed satisfaction at the great development of the two championships. He pointed out that he was discussing, with officials in the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation, organizing more tournaments in the coming season to prepare new Qatari international champions. HE the Minister also noted the remarkable and positive development witnessed by the Qatar Motorsport Academy, that has a fine group of talented and technically outstanding race drivers, which was reflected in the presence of new riders from the continents of Europe, America and Australia this season in the official races of the Qatar SuperStock Championship. He stressed that Qatar has outstanding relations with the International Automobile Federation (FIA). He pointed out that he had held talks with FIA President Jean Todt in Paris, during which he has put forward many ideas, related safety; international championships; and the environment. He stressed that Qatar is one of the major and important partners of FIA. HE The Minister of Culture and Sports pointed out that the traffic culture of the Qatari society has reached a very good level and is constantly growing, noting that traffic accidents have significantly decreased after opening the modern road networks in Qatar, to become among the best in the world. This will contribute, in the future, to Qatar's success in hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. (QNA)
