Minister of Culture and Sports Praises Progress of Qatar Grand Prix

Doha, March 08 (QNA) - HE Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali praised Sunday the progress of the Grand Prix of Qatar, in light of the strong participation and the records achieved this year on Losail International Circuit. His Excellency told the press on the sidelines of the event that Qatar GP proves that the state is capable of hosting the biggest international sporting events no matter how difficult the circumstances are. His Excellency praised the effort of officials from Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and Losail Circuit Sports Club, saying they worked hard to ensure the competition reflecting the status of the State of Qatar. His Excellency praised the atmosphere today, and expressed hope that the remaining rounds of the competition of the world championships can take place as scheduled. Earlier today, Tetsuta Nagashima and Albert Arenas claimed wins in the first grand prix of the season that took place in Qatar at Losail International Circuit. For his part, Chairman of QMMF Abdulrahman Al Mannai expressed his pride at the success of Qatar GP. He said that competition this year came particularly strong, and praised the organization of the event as well. He said that this year's competition was well organized, despite the precautionary measures provided by the State of Qatar to keep everyone safe in light of the unusual circumstances the world is currently facing. He praised the officials of the Losail International Circuit Sports Club for their efforts in that regard, adding that they reflected the level of professionalism of Qatari Cadres. Meanwhile Vice President of Losail Circuit Club Khalid Al Rumaihi expressed his delight with the success of the event which took place in Doha over the past three days. He added that competition in both the Moto2 and Moto3 was particularly strong all the way to the end. He added that the attendance of fans added excitement to the event. (QNA)
