Myanmar Beat Cambodia To Revive Hopes To Semi-Final

YANGON, Nov 24 (Bernama)-- Joint host, Myanmar revived their hopes to reach semi-final of AFF Suzuki Cup after beating Cambodia 3-1 in a Group B match at Thuwunna Stadium, here Wednesday. The win saw the White Angels squad of head coach Gerd Zeise sharing three points with Malaysia. However, Myanmar moved up one rung to second spot behind Vietnam in the table standing based on better goal difference after two matches. In Wednesday's match, Cambodia took a lead via midfielder, Sos Suhana in the 14th minutes. Myanmar hit back when striker Zaw Min Tun scored a brace in the 36th and 40th minute. The 2-1 result remained until the end of first half. After the break, Myanmar got their third goal via Aung Thu's strike in the 56th minute. The 3-1 score remained until the end of the match. Winner of the match between Malaysia and Myanmar to be held on Saturday at the same venue, will accompany Vietnam to the semi-final. Earlier, Vietnam booked their place in the semi-final after beating Malaysia 1-0, their second straight win. Cambodia, who has yet to win a match, will wrap up the preliminary fixtures against Vietnam at Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Naypyitaw, also on Saturday. Group B standings: ----------------- .
