Perfect Partnership between Aspetar and Qatar National Football Team

Doha, February 06 (QNA) - Aspetar, the specialized orthopedic and sports medicine hospital, celebrated the victory of the Qatari football team in the 2019 AFC Cup final which ended on Friday. Aspetar provided all means of support for the team for more than 56 days of continuous work since the preparations and even after the return to Doha after winning Japan 3-0. Acting Chief Executive Officer of Aspetar Dr. Abdulaziz Al Kuwari said in a speech during the ceremony attended by the team's technical staff and player Abdelkarim Hassan that this achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of the team and partners and since the establishment of the hospital in 2007, It provides support to all national teams participating in local, regional and international events by providing the most comprehensive medical services. The support provided by Aspetar is not limited to medical services during the tournament, but is preceded by medical examination, disease and injury prevention, improved performance, treatment and hospitalization. The partnership with Qatar Football Association is one of the most remarkable examples of the excellent cooperation between state sports institutions and the practical embodiment of Aspetar's message to help athletes compete to their fullest potential and reach the highest levels of performance. Qatar's national team physical performance has been consistent, due in part to the medical support and services provided by Aspetar team to players, which enabled them to continue the tournament until the last match. Commenting on Aspetar's pivotal role, Qatar coach Felix Sanchez said that today we are at Aspetar to celebrate our title, which is mainly thanks to players and then to Aspire contributions and to the role of Aspetar team in preparing players, and we have a distinguished medical team, and the most important factor remains that the player is ready to participate in the tournament and I am happy to celebrate today with those who have worked closely with the team and we are now looking forward to the next challenge in June for Copa America and we know that it is a great challenge and we will continue to work hard. For his part Qatari player Abdelkarim Hassan said that you noticed during the tournament, that the injury rates were thankfully low compared to the participating teams, and Aspetar doctors focused so much on maintaining the fitness levels and we appreciate what each member of the medical team did in this regard. The medical team is led by Dr. Ian McGuinness and the team consists of five physiotherapists and two medical massage professionals as well as support from a physiotherapist from Doha to receive and treat any cases if necessary. Commenting on the support of the Qatari team, McGuinness said that we were very happy to celebrate this achievement, but we remain concerned about the safety and recovery of any injured player and the preparations for the tournament have not stopped since we started the training camp on December 7, and we have recorded 56 days of continuous work without interruption. As for the preparations for the next competitions to reach Qatar World Cup 2022, McGuinness said that Aspetar is a great school and a truly distinguished institution that encourages science and development and he expects things to be going faster than usual to reach the World Cup in the coming period, and the focus will be on the Qatar team, Aspetar and Aspire in general, with great expectations, and it is imperative that we enter into a constant challenge to develop ourselves.
