President of Asian Football Confederation Praises Achievement

Abu Dhabi, February 01 (QNA) - President of the Asian Football Confederation Sheikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa praised Friday the achievement of the Qatari side after they won the AFC Asian Cup for the first time in their history, saying that the wing reflects the continental status of Qatari football. The AFC President and first the first vice-president of (FIFA) crowned the Qatari team as champions of the 17th edition of the Asian Cup after beating Japan 3-1 in the final match of the evening at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa stressed that the Qatari team's victory is the result of ambitious strategies focused on building a new football generation. Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa noted the technical level of the final match was fantastic all around and gave a clear picture of the level of Asian football, adding that it was the perfect ending to the tournament. He also highlighted that this edition was particularly special as it was the largest in terms of the number of teams participating. He also highlighted the big prize money allocated for the competition, the superb organization, and the enthusiastic fan support. (QNA)
