Qatar Bowling Federation Continues Preparation for HH the Amir Cup

Doha, February 21 (QNA) - Qatar Bowling Federation (QBF) continues its preparations for the inauguration of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani Bowling Cup 2019, which will be held on 2-8 March at the QBF international center, with the participation of a number of top players and total prizes of $102000. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), QBF Secretary General of the Ahmed Shaheen Al Muraikhi (former world champion), said that the countries that have confirmed their participation in the tournament so far along Qatar are: Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Indonesia, Morocco, US and Kuwait, pointing out that this number could be increased as registration and participation are still open. With regard to the Qatari participation in the championship, Al Muraikhi said that HH the Amir bowling championship will be attended by the winners of the 2017 championship, Mohammed Al Muraikhi, Ali Al Janahi, Ghanem Bujsoum, Yousef Al Jaber, Abdulrahman Al Jaidah and Saud Ahmed Abdullah. He noted that the players of the Qatari team prepared for the championship through an internship camp launched two weeks ago and included intensive training under the supervision of Argentine coach Pedro Merani and his Qatari assistant Khalifa Al Kubaisi, stressing that the tournament will also see the participation of Qataris from outside the team. He added that the organizing committee of the tournament decided to distribute the championship prizes for the places from the first to the No. 32, where the first place gets $ 20,000, while the runner up receives $12,000. Qatar Bowling Federation Secretary General said that 6 attempts will be made daily in the early stages of the championship, which starts on March 2 and continues until the 7th of the same month, and then the final day begins with the final stages of the championship, in which 20 players will qualify to compete and win the title on 4 stages to finally win the valuable cup. He confirmed the readiness of all the committees for the championship waiting for the arriving of foreign players who will stay at Wyndham Grand Regency in Al Sadd. As for the tournament rules, Al Muraikhi said that the participant must be at least 16 year-old and be aware of the rules of the game so as not to affect other players and world champions in the tournament and also to avoid any defect in the game, stressing that several professional players will take part in the championship including Qatar's Jassim Al Muraikhi who won the Amir Cup in 2017. With regard to the upcoming events awaiting Qatar Bowling team, Al Muraikhi explained that the players will participate in several championships, including Singapore International Open 2019 in June, the VI Brunswick Madrid Challenge in July, and Hong Kong Open 2019. At the end of his statement, Qatar Bowling Federation Secretary General said that Qatar Bowling Center hosted at the beginning of this month the 9th Qatar International Friendship Tournament, which lasted from February 12 to 16, with the participation of 6 foreign countries.
