Qatar Open Shotgun Championship Kicks Off Tomorrow

Doha, February 21 (QNA) - Qatar Shooting & Archery Association (QSAA) unveiled the details of the Qatar Open Shotgun Championship, which starts on Friday and ends until 3 March. 280 shooters from 38 countries will be competing in the Trap, Double Trap and Skeet categories. This was announced at a press conference held today at Lusail Shooting Range. The technical and administrative formation for the championship was also revealed, including QSAA president and head of the organizing committee of the tournament Ali Mohammed Al Kuwari, director of the tournament and board member Abdullah Ali Al Mutawa Al Hammadi, assistant secretary, chairman of the finance committee Hussain Saleh Al Sada, head of national teams and head of fields Preparation Ali Saeed Al Mannai, and executive director of the secretariat committee Mohamed Ahmed Taher, among others. During the press conference, the Organizing Committee announced that the competition will feature both men and women shooters and has a total prize money of $1, 32000, with 280 participants from 38 countries including Qatar, Australia, Croatia, China, Finland, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Czech Republic, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Jordan, Iran, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, US, Ukraine, Malaysia, Poland, Peru, Pakistan, Japan, Lithuania, India, Georgia and Denmark. In Trap category, the Qatar team will be represented by Rashid Al Athba, Nasser Al Humaidi, Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Mohammed Dablan, Hamad Al Athba, Hamad Al Athabi, Abdulaziz Al Athba, Khalid Al Mohannadi, Khalifa Al Attiyah and Ghanem Al Nuaimi. In the women's Trap category, the participants are Amna Al Abdullah, Noura Al Ali, Banna Ali, Kholoud Al Khalaf, Nawal Al Khalaf and Noura Al Mohannadi. In the youth category for the same competition, the participants are Hussein Al Banai, Ibrahim Al Tamimi, Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi, Salem Al Marri, Mohammed Abdul Mohsen and Abdulaziz Abdul Mohsen. The Skeet category, there will be Nasser Al Attiyah, Abdulaziz Al Attiyah, Rashid Saleh, Masoud Saleh, Mohammed Al-Thani, Saeed Abu Sharab, Hassan Al Mannai, Rashid Al Shahwani and Ali Al Ishaq, while for women, there will be Reem Al Sharshani, Sarah Mohammed, Hajar Mohammed, Hanan Ali and Amal Ahmed. In the Double Trap, the competition will be attended by Hamad Al Marri, Rashid Al Athba, Massoud Al Atbha, Massoud Ali Al Athba, Rashid Al Athbi and Abdul Baset Al Saadi. The tournament's director Abdullah Ali Al Mutawa Al Hammadi stressed the importance of this great sporting presence, which is considered as one of the most important gatherings for this sport, where everyone is seeking through this tournament to work on the final preparation before entering the competitions for the upcoming Olympic Games in Japan. Al Hammadi pointed out that the aspirations and vision of Qatar Shooting and Archery Association are continuing to achieve all the goals that it seeks by representing the national shooting sport in all its levels, pointing out that the tournament is witnessing continuous success and this is evident through the teams present in Doha today. For his part, Mohammed Ahmed Taher explained that the secretariat committee started its work with the start of this year, where it received requests for participation after sending invitations to Arab, Asian and international federations and this committee was working to facilitate the procedures for participants which contributed to the success of this event. The Chairman of the Finance Committee Hussein Al Sada said that the team is ready for the championship since the announcement of the kick off date, where the budget was prepared to contribute to the success of this important sports gathering, pointing out that the tournament is witnessing a large turnout of participants. On the other hand, Kuwaiti shooter Abdulrahman Al Faihan, who qualified for Tokyo 2020 Olympics, confirmed that his participation in Trap shooting competitions in the tournament is part of his preparations for the upcoming tournaments and competitions. On Friday, the official exercises for Trap shooting will begin, and the official launch of the competition is scheduled for Saturday. (QNA)
