Qatari Clubs' Coaches Ready for 2020-2021 Season QNB Stars League
Doha, September 02 (QNA) - The coaches of Qatari clubs spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League that will kick off tomorrow.
Speaking ahead of their 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League Week 1 match against Al Sadd, Al Kharaitiyat coach Yousef Adam said: "This match will not be easy because Al Sadd are a big team having distinguished players at the foreign and local levels, and we respect them just as we respect all teams we play against. We study the Al Sadd team well and each team has its strengths and weaknesses.
"Our team is always ready and we do not say excuses because of absences or injuries because we play with the available players. We will enter the stadium to provide our best possible level to achieve a positive result.
"Despite playing matches continuously in the Second Division, we do not feel tired, but all players are eager to play in the First Division. That is a positive thing. Enthusiasm and determination are important factors in football.
"Our ambition in the new season is to get stabilized first and gradually develop in the following seasons. We seek to satisfy everyone in terms of level and positive results," said Yousef Adam.
Speaking ahead of their 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League Week 1 match against Al Gharafa, Qatar SC goalkeeping coach Wesner said: "We are now facing a new challenge with the start of the new season, so we have made the required preparations. We respect Al Gharafa, who are a very organised team and did a good job last season. They have retained 95 per cent of their players and their coach is smart. He knows how to use his offensive strengths well.
"We must do everything we can and reorganize ourselves in the best possible way. We let go some players and at the same time new players joined our team and we keep 90 percent of our group. We are focused more on giving off our best," said Wesner.
Al Sailiya coach Sami Trabelsi spoke ahead of their 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League Week 1 match against Al Rayyan, saying "We are competing in the new season with a different ambition and mentality, to win the league title, starting with the match against Al Rayyan in the first round. It is considered as a difficult confrontation by all standards, but our goal is to win. We know that Al Sailiya are a strong team capable of constantly competing for titles.
"Al Sailiya this season are different from last season with the inclusion of many distinguished players who are able to help the team achieve its goal - compete for top positions.
"We were not satisfied with our fifth-place finish last season. Everyone, especially the players, is fully convinced that we presented a good level and our attacking woes let us down," said Trabelsi.
Al Rayyan coach Diego Aguirre also spoke ahead of their 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League Week 1 match against Al Sailiya, saying: "Al Sailiya are a good team with talented players and they have a great coach. We all know the strengths of Al Sailiya, who always compete for top positions, and we have to be on top of our focus and readiness while facing them.
"With full appreciation for Al Sailiya, we, at Al Rayyan, want to start the new league on a strong note and our ambition is to improve our results from what we achieved last season. We are fighting for the title this season as well.
"I am confident that Al Rayyan are able to repeat what we did last season. It is very important for us to start strongly and win the first match. If you remember, we drew our first three matches last season and wasted early points. We do not want that this time around and I trust my players," said Aguirre.
Speaking ahead of their 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League Week 1 match against Qatar SC, Al Gharafa coach Slavisa Jokanovic said: "This (starting the new season immediately after the previous one) is a new experience for us and for all clubs. We certainly realise the importance of a positive start because we will need points at the end of the season.
"We have not made many changes to the squad from last season. We are ready to do better than last season and look forward to competing strongly and achieving better results.
"We have seen how Qatar SC performed last season and we are following the developments that have happened there. We know that they have lost the services of some players, while some other players, including Sardor Rashidov, will continue with the team. He is one of their most important players.
"But in the first place, we must pay attention to our style of play and focus on what we want from the match. If the Qatar SC team plays in a different way than we know, then we should do our duty and provide solutions," said Jokanovic.
The stage is all set for the 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League. The Week 1 matches will be played on Thursday, September 3, and Friday, September 4, with three games on each day. The newly-constructed Education City Stadium, Al Gharafa Stadium and Al Ahli Stadium will be the venues. There will be simultaneous kick-offs on both days.
The Week 1 fixtures are Al Kharaitiyat vs Al Sadd (18:15, Education City Stadium), Al Sailiya vs Al Rayyan (18:15, Al Gharafa Stadium), Al Gharafa vs Qatar SC (20:30, Al Gharafa Stadium) on Thursday, Al Duhail vs Umm Salal (18:15, Education City Stadium), Al Ahli vs Al Wakrah (18:15, Al Ahli Stadium) and Al Khor vs Al Arabi (20:30, Al Ahli Stadium) on Friday.
