Qatari Sheikh Fahad Announces Participating in Middle East Professional Boxing Championship
Doha, January 27 (QNA) - The professional Qatari boxer Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid bin Jassim Al-Thani announced participating in the Middle East Professional Boxing Championship, which the World Boxing Council (WBC) has created in its agenda for the countries in the Middle East.
Only professional boxers compete in the Middle East championships, which are considered the latest boxing championships in the region, in which competitions include eight rounds with three minutes per each.
Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid bin Jassim Al-Thani described his participation in this particular championship as "immensely significant", particularly because it is considered his first step towards internationality in major championships, as it is held under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for Professional Boxing.
Participating in this championship will be paralleled with Sheikh Fahad's agenda of matches, which he competes in under the umbrella of the Spanish Union for Professional Boxing, as he is currently seeking dates that do not clash with his competitions in Spain during this year, he said in a press statement.
Sheikh Fahad stressed that participating in the Middle East Championship was neither in his agenda of competing nor in his 2020 plans, considering it, at the same time, hard to ignore or just pass by, especially since it is seen as a paradigm shift in his professional career, as he will be one of the very few Arab boxers participating in this championship.
