Sea Games Schedule To Be Finalised By July - Minister Khairy

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- The final schedule for the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games in Kuala Lumpur will be finalised in July next year, says Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin. He said the games schedule could only be finalised after the organising committee received the full list of countries participating in the Games. "The Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games organising committee has been instrumental in preparing the initial schedule for the Games, taking into consideration, participation and medal target of the national athletes," he told the Dewan Negara (house of parliament) Tuesday. Khairy was replying to Senator Shahanim Mohamad who wanted to know about preparations by national athletes for the Games. He said the committee had also met five times to oversee and monitor the 18 sub-committees which had been entrusted to put up a good show for those participating in the 2017 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games. Kuala Lumpur will host the 29th SEA Games from Aug 19 to 31 and the 17th ASEAN Para Games from Sept 17 to 23 next year. -- BERNAMA
