SEA Games Theme Song, TV Commercial To Be Release Soon
By R. VIKNESWARAN
KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 (Bernama) -- A special theme song and television commercial will be release soon to increase public's awareness and spirit towards the upcoming 29th SEA Games and 9th Para ASEAN Games (KL 2017).
Malaysian SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC) Chief Operating Officer Shaiful Subhan said the release of the song and TV commercial are part of the ongoing promotional activities for the games.
"I am not going to say much on the plan, but we expect the song and TV commercial to be launched in the next one or two months, so that once the Games start on Aug 19, everyone will be excited about the Games," he told Bernama here Tuesday.
Producing a theme song for sporting events is not something new as major Games such as Olympics, FIFA World Cup, Commonwealth Games have had their own theme songs, while for the previous SEA Games, Singapore had released its official music album for the Games.
On another note, Shaiful invited the public to register for the KL 2017 torch run, to be held nationwide from May 14 onwards, after the ongoing Baton Run which reached the halfway mark in Bangkok, last weekend.
The Rising Together Baton Run in celebration of Malaysia’s hosting the 2017 SEA Games and 9th Asean Para Games, covers all countries taking part in the SEA Games, and is expected to end in Singapore on May 13, before the start of the Torch Run in Malaysia on May 14.
"The Torch Run will start in Johor Bahru (southern Malaysia) and held throughout the country before reaching Kuala Lumpur. The Torch would be brought into the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil (Kuala Lumpur) for the opening ceremony and to light up the cauldron.
"An official announcement about the Torch Run will be made soon. Those interested to take part in the run can register at the KL 2017 website and choose their location for the run," he said.
The specially designed torch is expected to be unveiled by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin next week.
The 29th SEA Games is scheduled from Aug 19-31 while the ASEAN Para Games takes place from Sept 17-23.
