Secretary-General of QTF Delighted with Success of Qatar Total Open

Doha, March 01 (QNA) - Secretary General of Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) Tarek Darwish Zainal expressed Saturday his delight with the success of the 18th edition of Qatar Total Open for women's tennis, which concluded today after Aryna Sabalenka beat Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-3. He said this year's edition was full of surprises and strong competition, in addition to the increasing attendance from the fans with each passing day. He added that all these factors combined made the competition one of the strongest in women's tennis following the four Grand Slams. He congratulated both Sabalenka and Kvitova for the match they played in the final. He said that both were tremendous throughout the competition, but someone had to eventually lose. He said that the federation was delighted with the performance of Tunisia's Ons Jabeur, saying that he was hoping she could get to the final. She eventually lost out a close match against Kvitova in the quarter-finals. Director of the competition Saad Al Mohannadi said that the level of all the players gave very strong performances. He also said that the strong organization of the event was a result of years of experience in holding high-quality, international sporting events. (QNA)
