Sheikh Joaan Participates in Third Meeting of Olympic Refuge Foundation Executive Office

Lausanne, April 17 (QNA) - HE Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani participated in the third meeting of the Olympic Refuge Foundation executive office, which was held on Monday in Lausanne, Switzerland. The meeting was chaired by HE International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Dr Thomas Bach, who is also Chair of the Olympic Refuge Foundation. The meeting was attended by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, who is also vice chair of the foundation. The meeting was also attended by HE Honorary Member of the foundation Dr Jacques Rogge and members of the foundation, President of World Taekwondo Dr Chungwon Choue, Member of the first Refugee Olympic Team at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 Yiech Pur Biel and other members of the executive office. During the meeting they reviewed the ongoing projects in a number of refugee camps which is organized by the foundation, in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and different organizations and partners of the Olympic movement. They also reviewed future projects which aim to support refugees through providing sports facilities and activities and developing required establishments for refugees to play sports around the world.
