Six Countries To Compete In 2017 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup
IPOH (Perak, Malaysia), Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Six countries have so far confirmed their participation in the 25th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Hockey tournament that will be held at the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium, here from April 27 to May 6.
Sultan Azlan Shah Cup organising committee chairman Abd Rahim Mohd Ariff said the six countries would compete for the title compared with seven countries last year.
The countries involved are Australia, India, Japan, New Zealand, Malaysia and Britain while Pakistan have decided to stay out.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) chief executive officer K. Logan Raj said Malaysia's target in the competition is to finish among the top four.
"Last year we finished in fifth spot. This year we are hoping to do better, at least fourth. The tournament is important to the National team since they will be competing in the World Hockey League and World Cup," he said.
