Strongest GCC Man Organisation Committee approves competitions

Manama, Feb.20 (BNA): The High Organisation Committee of the Strongest GCC Man, chaired by Ahmed Al Shaikh Director of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa Media Office, has approved the competitions of the first edition of the event which will take place on April 10, 2020, at the area opposite to Bahrain International Circuit. The event will take place under the theme GCC Challenge and it is part of HH Shaikh Khalid's initiatives in support of youth and sports. To be held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, the funds raised through the event will be donated to support cancer patients. The six competitions of the first edition include torso lifting, car lifting, rock lifting, tyre lifting and farmer walk as well as car pulling. "The main event will take place soon and we are ready for it. The final round of the qualifiers will be organised in Oman and the qualified contestants will compete it out in Bahrain," head of the technical committee Faris Al-Kooheji said. "Bahrain has proved itself as a worthy organiser of such events as attested by British champion Eddie Hall who attended the first edition of the Strongest Bahraini Man Championship and showered praise on the organisational level as well as the performances showcased during the event," he added. He further expressed his utmost thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for his constant support to sports and sportspeople in Bahrain via the initiatives introduced by him. It's worth noting the qualifiers will take place in Oman on March 7.
