TAMARIS Achieves a Massive Win at Wolverhampton
London, July 27 (QNA) - HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani's homebred TAMARIS (IRE) (Dansili x Fleur De Cactus) got off the mark in a dazzling style at Wolverhampton, UK. In his fourth time of asking and handicap debut, the brown colt dismantled the 11-runner field in the Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin 535 Handicap with a massive six and a half lengths win in the 2200-metre contest for three-year-olds.
Under a perfect ride by Jason Watson, TAMARIS sat near the rear and traveled smoothly at the early stages. Five furlongs before the finish line, he began to make up ground with a quick forward move. Two furlongs later, he took the lead. Then, he showed a brilliant turn of foot kicking clear in the final bend. He never looked back seeing off his rivals and putting the race to bed comfortably and decisively for his trainer Roger Charlton. RAY'S THE ONE (GB) (Mount Nelson x Tenpence), who is trained by Michael Bell, was the runner-up under Hayley Turner. ISAYALITTLEPRAYER (GB) (Nathaniel x I Say), who is trained by Gary Moore, was a further short head behind in third under Hector Crouch.
It was the first victory in his career, which started only in June this year, but in a manner that suggests it certainly will not be the last. (QNA)
