World Athletics Championship: Gardiner Wins 400m Gold

Doha, October 05 (QNA) - Steven Gardiner of the Bahamas won the men's 400m gold medal in the IAAF World Athletics Championships, Doha 2019, at the Khalifa International Stadium. Gardner, who won the silver medal in 2017, won the race in 43.48 seconds after beating Colombian runner Anthony Jose Zambrano, who won the silver medal in 44.15 seconds. Fred Kerley of the U.S. came in third place in 44.17. South Africa's Wade Van Nijkerk, winner of London 2017 World Athletics Championships, and Rio 2016 Olympic and the Olympic record holder in 43.03 seconds, missed the 400 meters at the 2019 World Athletics Championships due to injury. Qatari Abdalelah Haroun missed the second round of qualifying due to injury. (QNA)
