Starbucks Unveils BLACKPINK Themed Beverage, Drinkware

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- Starbucks Malaysia on Thursday unveiled its much anticipated BLACKPINK-themed Frappucino along with a collection of stylish drinkware and lifestyle merchandise as part of the brand’s Asia Pacific regional marketing campaign.

In collaboration with the sensational K-Pop group, the line-up which would be on sale starting July 25 features brighter and bolder products inspired by the endearing spirit and inimitable style of BLACKPINK that has captured the hearts and minds of its fans, known globally as BLINKs.

Previewing the product line-up to media today, Berjaya Starbucks Director of Category and Marketing, Zakiah Hanim unveiled the BLACKPINK Strawberry Choco Cream Frappuccino that brings out the chic and edgy vibe of BLACKPINK’s latest album Born Pink with its black and pink-hued blend.

BLINKs and Starbucks fans alike will also have to be on the lookout to get their hands on the BLACKPINK + STARBUCKS collection, a line-up of 11 types of drinkware and six lifestyle accessories featuring signature contrasting pink and black color palettes and funky graffiti motifs. 

Zakiah said Starbucks will be offering a pre-sale for the collection on July 21, which would be opened for the first 190 customers.

Meanwhile, Starbucks Rewards members would be able to purchase the beverage on July 23 before it is available to all customers nationwide starting July 25.

Commenting on Starbucks’s collaboration with BLACKPINK, Berjaya Food Bhd Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Sydney Quays said it was special for the company to collaborate with such a phenomenal group, which stands as a big brand on its own with millions of fans globally.

As such, he said Starbucks expects the limited line-up of merchandise and drinks launched on Thursday to be sold very fast and customers are advised that the promotion will only be ongoing while stocks last.

“This promotion is only launched in the Asia Pacific region. We also expect those from outside the region to also want to buy it. The promotion will be ongoing while stock lasts, but I’m sure it will be sold out very fast,” he said.

Besides the BLACKPINK collection, Starbucks had also introduced its latest line-up of beverages for summer which includes the Starbucks Almond Butter Coffee Frappuccino, Starbucks Almond White Chocolate Cream Frappuccino and Starbucks Almond Cream Cold Brew.

It also unveiled the Starbucks Summer Field merchandise collection and Beach Day Starbucks Card, which features an all-new brewing set, tumbler, sustainable cold cup and a light-weighted picnic mat.
