Kuala Lumpur To Host 8th Annual Nuclear Power Asia Conference
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- The 8th Annual Nuclear Power Asia Conference, scheduled on March 7 and 8, 2017 here, will draw regulators, nuclear energy agencies, operators and licensors from the international nuclear community and those at the forefront of nuclear development in Asia.
More than 30 speakers will share their insights on new build and new capacities in Asia along with their visions on how nuclear power could reshape regional economic and energy landscape, with a specific focus on unique challenges confronting ASEAN.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri would deliver the opening address, giving an overview on Malaysia's nuclear development plans.
The speakers would be led by Dohee Hahn, the Director of the Division of Nuclear Power, Department of Nuclear Energy, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who will give a keynote address, providing an overview on global nuclear power development from the IAEA perspective.
The others include:
* Dr. Gerald Ouzounian, the Director of the International Division, French Agency for Radioactive Waste Management (Andra), who would deliberate international perspectives on nuclear waste management including developing a policy for decommissioning, waste management and disposal.
* Dr Sanjayan Velautham, the Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Energy, who would give a keynote address on Asia's nuclear power development with a particular focus on ASEAN.
* Lin Haomiao, the Regional Project Manager, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), who would talk about the strategies for human resource development for nuclear newcomer countries.
* Edward McGinnis, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Nuclear Energy Policy and Cooperation, Office of Nuclear Energy, the US Department of Energy would discuss the role of nuclear energy in a low carbon future, including environmental partnership between nuclear and renewables to combat climate change.
