Qtel Fibre Network Continues Nationwide Growth

Doha, September 09 (QNA) - Qtel's nationwide implementation of Qtel Fibre continues to reach homes and businesses, and a newly-streamlined installation process is making it easier and quicker for people to receive the service. Qtel has already installed the Fibre network in more than 36,000 homes. The expansion is progressing zone-by-zone across the country, and so far Qtel has laid fibre passing 131,000 homes for later activation. In response to customer requests, the installation process has been streamlined so that it’s quicker and more convenient for customers. A number of process improvements will also make it easier for customers to check availability in their area. "Qtel's ultrafast broadband Fibre network will forever change the way customers experience online business, education and entertainment," said Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani, CEO, Qtel Qatar. "We have made significant progress throughout Doha and into Qatar, and have now made the installation process even more convenient for our customers. In all, this is one of the largest projects Qtel has ever undertaken, and we are seeing incredible results for customers." So far, Qtel s expert technicians have spent a staggering 1.5 million man hours installing the service, and have used more than 1,900 km of cable. With the new installation process, installation teams will contact customers over the phone or door-to-door. Appointments are usually arranged within two days, and the call centre will contact customers to determine the package they require. Customers can also call 111 to schedule an appointment to migrate them to Fibre. Qtel has committed to spend capital of more than QR 1 billion investing in the fastest broadband service in the country. The Fibre network offers Qatar s fastest-ever Internet and next-generation Mozaic TV, and has download speeds of up to 100 Mbps. (QNA)
