World Anti-Drug Day.. Minister Of Health: We Work As One Team To Help Victims Of Addiction
Baghdad / NINA / - The Office of the National Counselor for Mental Health at the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, held a celebration for the International Day against Drugs, under the slogan (With everyone's will, we deter the danger of drugs), today, Monday, in Baghdad.
During the ceremony, the head of the Supreme National Commission for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, affirmed that the ministry will continue to implement the priorities of the government program and work in a team spirit to help victims of addiction by opening specialized medical and psychological treatment centers, as well as developing a government plan to control border crossings and roads and the use of scientific and intelligence methods to detect drug promoters and dealers, deter them and hold them accountable through the security and judicial authorities and the scientific methods used to detect drugs, and enhance human capabilities in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development, "referring to local, national and joint cooperation with neighboring, regional and international countries to combat this phenomenon.
In their turn, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Committee and representatives of international organizations appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Health and its serious endeavor to continue joint cooperation to confront this dangerous scourge.
The ceremony was attended by members of the relevant parliamentary committees, officials of the Ministry of Health, members of the Supreme National Commission for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the representative of the World Health Organization.
The celebration included the displaying of educational films on combating drugs and their dangers prepared by the Ministries of Health and Interior, a theatrical show entitled (Treatment of Addiction Victims), a film prepared by the Sadr City Youth Directorate, and scientific lectures on the scourge of drugs./ End
