Bali Expecting Potential Investments From APEC
Jimbaran, Bali, Oct 4 (Antara) - Bali expects potential investment for the development of a new airport on the island to stem from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
"The development of a new airport in Bali`s northern region cannot be carried out fully with just government funds. Investment from private parties will also be needed," Bali`s Deputy Governor Ketut Sudikerta stated during the China Day function at Bukit Jimbaran on Friday.
He pointed out that additional investment would speed up the development of the airport.
Sudikerta did not specify the funds that have been invested in the project so far. "I do not remember the figures but some investment has come," he noted.
He said the APEC event could provide a big opportunity for attracting investment for the development of the airport and other projects on the island.
At the moment, the implementation of the airport development plan was still being hindered by land acquisition problems but they would be solved soon, Sudikerta pointed out.
He further stated that the development of the new airport was aimed at spreading economic growth in the northern and southern regions.
If the project is realized, hopefully economic growth will spread across the island, Sudikerta said.
