Iran-Pakistan Border Committee To Discuss Bilateral Trade

Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan prov, July 15, IRNA – Iran-Pakistan border committee will convene in Pakistan in August to review bilateral trade, said Pakistani consul general in Zahedan on Monday. Muhammad Tahir Qureishi made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian official in Sistan-Baluchestan province, Ali Khaneqaei. He said that the committee will provide an opportunity for both countries to promote ties in all areas. Underlining the importance of enhanced relations between the two neighboring countries, Qureishi said during a recent meeting with officials from Sistan-Baluchestan province, the Pakistani ambassador to Iran has called for removal of obstacles on the way of opening up Pishin border terminal and further facilitation of trade ties. The Iranian official, for his part, said that inauguration of Pishin border terminal will help promote trade between the two nations. Khaneqaei said that Iran-Pakistan trade has the capacity to grow five folds from the current $1 billion to $5 billion, once the required preparations are made. He said that inauguration of Pishin border terminal is one practical measure to help boost Tehran-Islamabad cooperation. He called for easing the trade tariffs and relaxation of duties on commodities and the merchandize routinely traded between Iran and Pakistan./end
