Iran-Turkey Customs Agreements Expand Trade Ties

Tehran, Oct 15, IRNA - - Heads of Iran's Customs Administration Abbas Me'marnejad said on Sunday negotiations held between Iranian and Turkish customs officials and agreements signed by them helped ease and expand the two countries' trade ties. He made the remarks in the third meeting of the two countries' customs officials in Ankara. Me'marnejad said such meetings and mutual agreements can ease trade activities between the two countries. Pointing to removal of customs formalities at "Bazargan-Golbagh" and "Sero-Essen Darre" border points, he said after opening Razi-Kapkoy border point, the mutual trade activities have increased. Turkish Deputy head of Customs Administration Zia Alton Yaldiz expressed pleasure with mutual customs cooperation and underlined further expansion of mutual customs relations. He said Iran and Turkey are determined to expand ties by easing legal regulations and modernizing and mechanizing customs procedures at the border points. In the third meeting of the two countries' customs officials, they discussed ways of facilitating transit of passengers and goods at joint border crossings. Me'marnejad and Yaldiz also discussed mechanisms for implementation of a mutual agreement signed at the end of December 2011 in Orumiyeh. Based on the agreement heads of the two countries' customs offices should hold talks every six months on relevant issues./end
