Russia displays 170 advanced weapons systems at LIMA-2015 exhibition in Malaysia

LANGKAWI (Malaysia), March 17. /TASS/. Russian defence enterprises are presenting more than 170 samples of military equipment at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA-2015) that opened in Malaysia on Tuesday. The Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system is expected to evoke a major interest, the press service of the arms exporter Rosoboronexport told TASS. Russia in terms of the number of participants - 29 companies and organisations - is second only to Malaysia, which is represented by 96 companies at the show. The Russian delegation is led by head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Alexander Fomin. The official programme will feature three Russian ships, including the Admiral Panteleyev large anti-submarine ship. "We have good positions on the Malaysian market, and we look forward to continued fruitful cooperation. We are ready not only to supply finished products, but also discuss organising joint and licensed production," said head of the regional department of Rosoboronexport Vladimir Yereshchenko who heads the company delegation at LIMA-2015. According to him, the special exporter plans to negotiate with all the commanders and leadership of the Malaysian law enforcement agencies, including the defence minister and commander-in-chief of the armed forces: "We hope that military-technical cooperation between the two countries will be intensified in the coming years." Rosoboronexport expects the Igla man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems, Mil Mi-171Sh helicopters, the Sobol, Mirage and Mangust class patrol boats to also evoke a major interest in Malaysia. For other countries in the region the Russian special exporter will present submarines of Project 636 and the Gepard 3.9 class frigates that are in service with the Vietnamese army, the Yakovlev Yak-130 combat training aircraft and Beriyev Be-200 multipurpose amphibious planes, as well as the Kamov Ka-226 and Mi-35M helicopters.
