Seminar Planned On Developing Fars Province-Hong Kong Trade

Shiraz, Aug 12, IRNA – Hong Kong Director for the Middle East and Africa Trade Development and head of Shiraz Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture agreed to hold seminar on the approaches for developing trade. Hong Kong official, Stephan Wang welcomed holding the event which will seek to introduce Hong Kong commercial and industrial capabilities to the Fars province’s merchants and prepare the ground for promoting trade. He further pointed out that Iranian market is very significance to Hong Kong. “We are interested in promoting trade with Iran despite the sanctions imposed on Iran,” he said, noting that Hong Kong is willing to expand economic cooperation with Fars province in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemical and foodstuffs. Wang added that Hong Kong is a free trade zone and is considered gateway to China. He hoped that Shiraz Chamber of Commerce would send a delegation of economic activists to discus ways to expand trade and commerce. Head of Shiraz Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Fereydoun Forqani, for his part, said that Iranian trade with China and Hong Kong have a long history. Iranian exports to Hong Kong stood at $300 million while imports were worth $177 million last year, he said, hoping that the figures will improve in future./end
