The exhibition, which is held in cooperation with the Embassy of Cuba in the State of Qatar, contains 15 varied paintings through which the artist focused on highlighting a number of animals such as monkey, rhinoceros and horse as a symbol of the theme of his various paintings to link between symbolism and image. Among the paintings on display are: Monarch, sorrel, stairway to paradise, Zenith light, the eye of the hurricane, behind the wall, Bucephalus, freedom, jump, Arch of triumph, Galloping over fire.
On this occasion, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti said that Katara is keen to enrich the local art scene and present it to the diverse public in Qatar.
He added that the exhibition is distinctive and has presented the Arabian horse in a beautiful and attractive way that reflects its symbolism, both in relation to the Arab and human cultural heritage.
Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti said: The "Face to face" exhibition will be held in Building 47, one of the new buildings selected for international galleries with a distinctive Qatari character by hosting such prominent art exhibitions.
For his part, Caballero Rodriguez, Ambassador of Cuba to the State, said: I am very happy with the exhibition of the Cuban international artist Juan Ariel Ruiz Contino, which is being held for the first time in Qatar and specifically in Katara. The artist displays beautiful paintings, including the Arabian horse, a symbol for the originality and nobility of the Arab community in general and the Qatari in particular, and presented in a wonderful artistic way that makes the viewer interact with them within a network of conceptual relations that link the semantics of the image of each person to read the painting from his own point of view.
The artist, Juan Ariel Ruiz Contino, commented on the exhibition: This exhibition shows a type of art that moves from the social to the autobiographical. In "Face to Face" one of the keys is the sensitivity to group and ungroup, to establish parallels, synchronies, and a system of relationships between objects.
Thus, the animal figure, who is the protagonist, triggers inspiration. The work interacts with the observer, as it oscillates between discourses that readjust, manipulate and grant new functions, perceiving a variety of possible readings in each of the pieces. I hope that the viewer be feel attracted by an artistic production where love for life and art throbs". (QNA)
