First gold of Iran's caravan won by volleyball team
Hangzhou, IRNA - Iran's national volleyball team won the championship of this competition for the third consecutive time by defeating China in the final match of the Asian Games, so that volleyball caught the first gold medal of our country's sports caravan in Hangzhou.
Today, the men's volleyball competition day of the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou was followed by five matches.
Iran's national volleyball team faced China in the final and defeated the host 3-1.
Behrouz Atai's students lost to China 25-19 in the first set of this match, but in the second to fourth sets they won with 25-14, 25-22 and 26-24, respectively to win the championship for the third time in a row.
At the beginning of this match, Behrouz Atai used the combination of Mohammad Mousavi, Amin Ismailnejad, Shahrouz Homayunfarmanesh, Mohammad Taher Wadi, Amir Hossein Esfandiar and Mohammad Reza Hazratpour.
Seyyed Mohammad Poladgar, Deputy Minister of Sports and Youth, Manaf Hashemi, head of Iran's caravan in the Asian Games, Mohammad Reza Davarzani, head of the volleyball federation, and Vahid Moradi, vice president of the volleyball federation, were among the spectators of this match in the hall.
In the classification match of this tournament, the teams of Japan and Qatar faced each other, and the Japanese won the bronze medal of the men's volleyball tournament of the Asian Games by defeating Qatar 3-1. won the third consecutive championship and gold medal. Iran's volleyball men had won two gold medals (2014 and 2018), three runner-up titles (1958, 2002 and 2010) and one third place (1966) in the previous 10 seasons.
Iran's national volleyball team defeated Nepal and Bahrain in the preliminary stage of this competition, and in the first elimination stage, they defeated Thailand and advanced directly to the semi-final stage.
