22 Sudanese Detained In Medan Immigration Detention Center

Medan, N Sumatra, Aug 13 (Antara) - About 22 Sudanese have been detained in Medan Immigration Detention Center, Belawan, North Sumatra, for illegal entry into Indonesia. "The foreigners have violated immigration law by trying to enter the country illegally," Purbanus Sinaga, head of the Medan Immigration Detention Center, said here on Wednesday. The number of foreign detainees in the immigration center has increased significantly from 283 in July 2014 to 323 in August. "A large number of foreigners had been transferred from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and other regions to the immigration center," he pointed out. The detained foreign immigrants in Medan are from Afghanistan (26 people), Bangladesh (11), Palestine (17), Myanmar (59), Somalia (92), Sri Lanka (40), Iran (17), Sudan (22), Eritrea (2), South Africa (1), Pakistan (9), Taiwan (1), and Nepal (1).
